Happy Tuesday everyone, this is the email that was meant to be sent out yesterday but I never ended up sending it to everyone! Today's email is about the blue dragon! As was suggested by Sawyer!
The blue dragon, known by the scientific name of Glaucus atlanticus is a sea slug well known for its dragon-like shape and wonderfully blue coloring. They are known by many names and nicknames, raging from titles such as sea swallow to blue angel.
The blue dragon is a rather interesting creature, having no specific area or coast they live in and instead being found all over the world in temperate and tropical oceans alike. They're pelagic animals, meaning they exist in the open ocean. This is consistent with their diet. The blue dragon exists within the Glaucidae family, which is a well known kind of sea slug notorious for their blue coloring, diet consisting mostly of cnidarians such as the Portuguese man o' war. And, most famous of all? Their sting.
The sting of the blue dragon is one of the coolest things about it, however it can make the animal dangerous. This sting can not be produced on their own and is actually stinger cells they have absorbed and saved from the cnidarians they've eaten.
The blue dragon is small. only getting barely larger than an inch or so. But their beauty exceeds their size. I hope that you all loved learning about the blue dragon! Have a wonderful day!
